The problem
A traditional counter is run with a paper notebook, a calculator and a phone. Stock is counted from memory, credit sales are written in a notebook, and the day's cash is reconciled by hand at closing.
What we built
- A point of sale that issues a fiscal invoice: VAT at 19% or 9%, timbre fiscal, per-line discounts, and a cancellation that returns the stock.
- Products with SKU, barcode or QR label, photo, brand and shelf location — plus expiry alerts, several warehouses and a reorder list that puts the urgent items first.
- Customer and supplier accounts with balances, statements, payments and credit limits, so a debt has a date and a name.
- Cash shifts with expenses, a Z-report, and drawer reconciliation that records the variance and the reason for it.
- One Excel workbook for the accountant — sales, VAT, margin and purchases for any date range — plus a Zakat calculation over stock and cash.
- Arabic, French and English, with an Arabic right-to-left layout treated as a first-class one rather than a translation layer — and a licence check that runs offline.
What changed
Sales, stock, customer credit and the cash drawer sit in one local database on the counter machine. No server, no connection to maintain, and no month-end reconstruction from a pile of receipts.
